Dr. Justin Grapentin, LL.M.

Dr. Justin Grapentin joined Wachenhausen Dienemann Rechtsanwälte in July 2023. He focuses on advising the pharmaceutical and medical device industry on issues relating to pharmaceutical and medical device law, national reimbursement law, and there in particular on the reimbursement of pharmaceuticals and digital health issues (DiGA) in statutory health insurance as well as in constitutional and administrative law. He also assists with contract drafting and negotiations as well as compliance-related issues.

Before joining Wachenhausen Dienemann Rechtsanwälte, Mr Grapentin worked as an in-house lawyer and project manager at Ecker + Ecker in Hamburg, a renowned management consultancy in the health care sector.

Dr. Grapentin studied law at the University of Hamburg and, following his first state examination, completed his doctorate on the conclusion of contracts under civil law involving artificial intelligence. Additionally he worked as a research assistant in the society Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer Rechtsanwälte Steuerberater PartG mbH in Hamburg. Later Dr. Grapentin worked on the Bucerius Law School under the direction of Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. Karsten Schmidt and he was an academic tutor at the University of Hamburg for several years.

He graduated from legal traineeship at the Hanseatic Higher Regional Court in Schleswig. After entering in the health care sector, he completed the part-time degree program LL.M. (pharma law) at the Philipps University of Marburg. His master thesis deals with the early benefit assessment for pharmaceuticals. Dr. Grapentin regularly publishes professional articles.
